These are two fields that I drive by everyday. The first two were taken first thing in the AM so all the frost was still on the ground making the ground look pale and colorless. This also helps bring out the color in the trees in the background. The second two were taken of a different field later on in the day the grass is a nice bright green but that takes away from the color of the trees in the background.
This is a great study in how time of day affects the same shot. I wondered why the first one looked "washed out" until you explained about the frost. Note the "movement" in the second and fourth shot as a result of the tilted horizontal...NICE!
